Climbing the Mountain offers workshops that aim to create healthy educational spaces rooted in the principles of reconciliation. Indigenous Canada is a 12-lesson Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the Faculty of Native Studies that explores the different histories and contemporary perspectives of Indigenous peoples living in Canada. From an Indigenous perspective, this course explores complex experiences Indigenous peoples face today from a historical and critical perspective highlighting national and local Indigenous-settler relations. Topics for the 12 lessons include the fur trade and other exchange relationships, land claims and environmental impacts, legal systems and rights, political conflicts and alliances, Indigenous political activism, and contemporary Indigenous life, art and its expressions. This course is offered through the Coursera website either free or via paid certificate/membership.

The Working in Good Ways project offers practical strategies that community engaged learning practitioners can apply at different stages of their work with Indigenous communities. The first—and most important—step towards understanding the Canadian Indigenous history is to recognize that Indigenous people are strong people. In spite of the severity of the many issues that individuals, families and communities face, Indigenous peoples are demonstrating their resiliency and remergence to equal standing within the Canadian society. Allen Sutherland / Waabiskhi Mazinishin Mishtadim (White Spotted Horse), Anishinaabek member of Skownan First Nation (Treaty 2 Territory) and of the Bizhiw doodem (Lynx Clan). As a member of the Manitoba Aboriginal Community, Allen had the opportunity of working within Indigenous, Federal and Provincial Governments, including grassroots community work for over 25 years. Allen provides facilitation and training under his own company of WHITE SPOTTED HORSE, Inc, where he is a sought-after resources person on the history and cultures of Indigenous Nations of Canada. Allen is a Registered Professional Trainer (RPT), Professional Certified Heritage Interpreter and a Certified Practitioner of Time Line Therapy.
